ASUS Laptop

To turn on laptop, one must alternately hold down and then tap the power button to get it to eventually boot up. As of now, that playing can take about a minute or two before something finally 'catches' and it begins starting Win10.

I am assuming a bad power button, but wonder about the BIOS or if dead spots on HD? One test still reports HD as "healthy." The power button assembly appears to be integrated into the board-no easy (read inexpensive) replacement.

Ebay has a few used X401's in the $125 price range. It only receives a "fair" to "poor" rating among reviewers. It is a family laptop, used with 12 year old kids. Local VERBAL only estimate to repair, $90 PLUS parts! Grab the hard drive and run?
